Lay Bricks Coffee Roasters

555-13 Sinsa-dong Gangnam-gu

I found myself at Lay Bricks coffee shop almost everyday whether it was to enjoy my morning coffee or a place to relax at the end of my day.
Conviently located at the bottom of my street it seemed to be a famous meeting place amongst friends enjoying in house roasted coffee, food or sweet desserts.
The atmosphere and feel of this coffee shop was completely different to any other that I have been in before and the smell of the fresh roasted coffee beans invites you in.

I remember sleeping the whole day after recovering from a cold and going directly to Lay Bricks after a hot shower.
The staff were so welcoming and friendly and would recognise my face curtiosly greeting me and happily stamping my loyalty card.
Even though I would often go there alone it was a good chance for me to meet new people as I was often approached by people who wanted to start a conversation with me to practice their english.

I'm back in Seoul~

So I was back in seoul for the winter and rented an apartment in Garosugil Sinsa-Dong.
Sinsa-Dong Is a huge neighbourhood that's very popular in Seoul and a perfect place to start your Gangnam adventure.

Amy's place #2 caught my eye not only being a brand new cosy apartment but opened its doors right on to the streets of Garosugil which is the hottest spot in Seoul.
Stepping out of Amy's you can enjoy the most refined, fashionable and extraordinary atmosphere  in Seoul.
The neighbourhood is known to have the best nightlife, the best refined boutiques and restaurants row in Gangnam.

The host Amy kept me well informed from the moment of booking her apartment and provided an excellent service and welcome package.
Amy sent me marked maps and how to videos to make sure there was no problems accessing the apartment.
If you use Kakaotalk Amy is constantly accessible for any questions and help if you need it.
The apartment is clean and cosy and Amy provides you with everything you need from toiletries to shampoo and even laundry powder.
Amy is an amazing host and surely made it a home away from home!

If you are interested  in renting Amy's place #2 you can find details and prices via the Travelmob website.

Eat jjimdak! ~

Seoul was cold with temperatures of -4 and I don't remember feeling this cold ever.
I went to Seouls i'park mall with my friend Sunny for dinner to eat jjimdak and I couldn't think of a more perfectly satisfying dish for a cold winter night.

Jjimdak is one of my favourite korean dishes and if you have no idea what jjimdak is Ill explain it to you.
Dak means chicken in Korean and jjim means steamed, stewed or braised in a sauce.
Jjimdak originated from the city of Andong and is known to be generally spicy and enormously popular since the late 1990's.
Chicken, potatoes and carrots are perfectly cooked in a sweet and savory sauce with a hint of spiciness and glass noodles.
When ordering jjimdak it is usually served with kimchi and boiled white rice for a more enjoyable meal.
You can find hundreds of jjimdak restaurants around seoul especially the Bongchu chain in Seochu, Jongno, Myeongdong, Seogyo and Sinchon.
