안압지 (Anapji) @ night

Anapji means "Goose and Duck Lake"

This pond was created during the Shilla Dynasty and was within the walls of the royal palace. A 1974 excavation revealed three underwater mounds, indicating that the pond used to have artificial islands within it. At the same time, the pond draining revealed several artifacts, including gold and bronze bowls, gilt ornaments, various jewelry, door knockers, and mirrors, which are now on display in the Gyeongju National Museum.

The stately but diminutive Imhae Jeonji, the crown prince's palace, was historically the most important building on the property and has been restored along with other structures, while the restoration of other building sites should be completed by the end of 2010.

Tip: For a romantic view of the site, visit after dark, when the buildings, pond, and surrounding forests are lit up.

Shilla millennium park

Shilla millennium park successfully reconstructs the culture and history of the 8th century Silla.

A dynamic performance on horseback is available at the Gongbang Village, along with the Millennium Palace Resort & Spa, a resort that looks like a traditional Korean-style house from the Silla period.

Shilla Millennium Park is sectioned into five large areas:

History Fantasia, Frontier Bay, Craftia, Emile Polis, and Hwarang Spirit.

It takes about 2 hours to make your way around the whole theme park, but make sure to leave some extra time to watch performances, and participate in the workshops.

The performance ‘Hwaranguido (Hwarang’s way)’ takes place daily, along with a cast of horseback military stuntmen.

The military art performance on horseback is a show that is representative of Shilla Millennium Park, and is a 30-minute performance that should not be missed.
